‘Guantanamo Voices’ made The New York Times Best Graphic Novels of 2020 list!

Such wonderful news from Alexandra Beguez (’16) @bisforbeguez on Instagram

“The graphic novel I contributed to, ‘Guantanamo Voices’ (Abrams) made The New York Times Best Graphic Novels of 2020 list!

Guantanamo Voices collects interviews from 10 people whose lives were inextricably affected by their time and proximity to the infamous prison, including former prisoners, lawyers, social workers, and service members. My chapter tells the story of Matthew Diaz, a military officer and lawyer, who while working at the prison made the extremely difficult decision to leak the names of Guantanamo detainees.

Guantanamo Voices is written and edited by Sarah Mirk, and features the work of several artists: Gerardo Alba, Kasia Babis, Tracy Chahwan, Nomi Kane, Omar Khouri, Kane Lynch, Maki Naro, Hazel Newlevant, Jeremy Nguyen, Chelsea Saunders, Abu Zubaydah, and myself.”

Congratulations, Alexandra and team!
