Tanya Valette
Producer, teacher and cultural manager. Graduate of EICTV in Editing, and first graduate to direct the Film School between 2006 and 2011. In 2024, Valette produced the film Pepe, which received the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlinale, the first Latin American movie to ever receive that honor. She has served as a juror and member of selection committees for several film festivals, and was the Creative Director of IBAFF between 2013 and 2015. Valette has also been involved in the development of the Dominican Republic’s Film Law, approved in November 2010, and has worked on strategies for the development of the National Directorate of Cinema (DGCINE). In 2012, the Cuban government recognized her leadership at EICTV by awarding her the Order for National Culture. Her extensive experience and dedication have made her a prominent figure in the Latin American film industry. She designed and heads the Film Department at CHAVON.
