Gina Gagliano

Comics and Children's Literature Consultant

Gina Gagliano is a comics and children’s literature consultant and freelancer, working with small presses to raise recognition and awareness for their books and missions. She partners with indie publishers Avery Hill Publishing, Levine Querido, and Street Noise Books. Based in the Boston area, she works with nonprofit organization the Boston Comic Arts Foundation as their Outreach Director to create education, resources and excitement for comics in the MA/New England area through events, programs, and community-building — including through the new MA state graphic novel award, which has just been announced. She works to support aspiring comics creators as an MFA Thesis advisor for the School of Visual Arts’ Graphic Narrative program and as a volunteer judge and mentor for We Need Diverse Books’ Walter Grant.

In her career, she has worked at First Second Books as their Associate Director of Marketing and Publicity, and at Random House Graphic as their Publishing Director, building the first graphic novel program for the biggest publisher in the U.S. She’s volunteered as the Events Manager for the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art, the Program Manager for the Toronto Comics Art Foundation, and the Comics Committee Co-Chair for the Brooklyn Book Festival.
