Christian Roman
Originally from Massachusetts, I attended Boston University under a full Trustee Scholarship, graduating with a degree in Painting (CFA ’91). But I realized my senior year I really wanted to get into animation. I took an internship at a local company called Olive Jar animation and learned how to do stop motion animation. Then moved to LA, where my first big break was on The Simpsons. I started in Layout, then moved into Storyboarding and finally became the Storyboard Supervisor. While I was at Film Roman (no relation!) I also directed episodes of The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat and Mission Hill. I left Film Roman to help create and direct two Disney Television Animation series Disney’s Fillmore! and American Dragon: Jake Long. While in LA I was a storyboard artist on many productions such as the Lilo & Stitch TV series, a Happily Every After for HBO, King of the Hill, Superman:TAS and Kronk’s New Groove. My last job in LA was storyboarding on The Simpsons Movie, where I finally decided it was time to get into feature animation story. By sheer coincidence one of my friends who had started working at Pixar called me and asked if I would consider moving to San Francisco and work there. Of course I said yes! I started at Pixar in 2007, working on Toy Story 3, then Newt (unreleased), every Toy Story short and television special, Cars 3, Toy Story 4, Blade (unreleased), Onward, Luca, a Dug Day’s short, Elemental, and BeFri (unreleased). I perform Improv Comedy regularly in the bay area, I am obsessed with researching genealogy, and consider myself a Star Wars nerd/ Comic Book geek/ RPGer/ Toy Collector/ Videogamer. I also regularly attend Burning Man. I live with my wife, teenage daughter, and cat Minnie in El Cerrito, CA.
