I loved being part of a program that’s low-residency. I was able to pursue my passions and interests by living abroad and studying at the same time. – Sarah Shaw (’20), Comics Artist, Illustrator and Teacher

Sarah Shaw (Class of 2020) discusses life as a student and teacher from MFA Visual Narrative at SVA on Vimeo.

Sarah was able to teach and learn at MFA Visual Narrative because the program is structured to accommodate many schedules. “Our intensive classes all happened during summer vacation. Classes are online for the rest of the year and we were able to go at our own pace while still having strict deadlines.”

Sarah’s recent projects include ‘The Repatriation Diaries’ (a self-published memoir) and part one of her thesis story ‘Finding Hope.’ Sarah also illustrated President Joe Biden’s ‘Build Back Better’ framework on the White House’s website. Link: whitehouse.gov/build-back-better
