Lark Fleischer, Class of 2028
Lark Fleischer is from Silver Spring Maryland, and he graduated from VCUarts in 2023 with a degree in Communication Arts and a minor in creative writing. He’s been passionate about comics for as long as he can remember, and is currently making his own comics featuring whimsy, himself, devastation, magic, and some attempt at understanding the world around him. Pen and ink are Lark’s bread and butter, and his primary genre interests are fantasy, horror, and slice of life. You will often find him watching a terrible network procedural TV show, or sitting at his desk, telling himself he’s just drawing ‘one more line’.
Ellie Ly, Class of 2027
Ellie Ly (she/her) is an artist, coder, and storyteller based in NYC. She creates in a multitude of media, with special focus on illustrative and interactive work.
When you grow up in a place like NYC, there’s very little that fazes you because of the sheer number of people, and therefore, the number of things that happen here. So, when it came to being imaginative, Ellie often turned to the inexplicable and the magical. ‘What would happen if a dragon occupied the Brooklyn Bridge? What would it be like to grow a pair of wings in the middle of Central Park?’ These urban fantasy-centric scenarios were central to defining Ellie’s start as a creative and continue to prevail in the work she creates.
When she isn’t creating, Ellie loves reading about fantastical adventures, thinking about sustainability, listening to math rock, and being a little extra
