Apply now for first round consideration of modest Merit-Based Scholarships, Educator’s Scholarships, and a select number of Housing Grants! Applications accepted on a rolling basis while space, scholarships, and housing awards remain available.

Part 1
SVA Graduate Admissions Portal

The SVA Graduate Admissions Portal primarily processes administrative materials such as transcripts and letters of recommendation. Here is what you need to upload to the SVA Grad Admissions Portal:

  1. Statement of Purpose
  2. Resume
  3. Transcript(s)
  4. Three Letters of Recommendation
  5. TOEFL  (international applicants)
  6. General Application Questions

Part 2
SlideRoom Portal

SlideRoom is the portal where the MFAVN Faculty Review Committee will access and evaluate your portfolio and other materials. Here is what you need to upload to the Slideroom Portal:

  1. Portfolio of 12–17 Pieces of Work
  2. Resume
  3. Statement of Purpose
  4. Creative Writing Assignment

Be sure to check our Application Requirements page for specific portfolio file format requirements and instructions for our two-part creative writing assignment.

Please note: while the SlideRoom portal deadline indicates that the deadline is June 1, 2025, we highly encourage that you submit the Slideroom portal by January 15, 2025 if you would like to be considered first for Merit Scholarships, Housing Grants, etc.

Applying for the Educator's Scholarship?

An Educator’s Scholarship is available for teachers. You will need to submit three additional materials to apply.

  1. Educators Letter of Recommendation
  2. Teaching Philosophy & Statement
  3. Portfolio of Student Work

Eligible candidates will be considered for scholarships providing up to 50% tuition. The candidate must currently teach full-time with the equivalent of six credits or more per semester (online acceptable) in an accredited college or university with at least two years of teaching experience (international experience is acceptable). Candidates teaching at the K-12 level will be considered on a case-by-case basis and should contact the department outlining their relevant background. We highly encourage that all applicants applying for the Educator’s Scholarship to submit by January 15, 2025.
