April Soetarman
Interdisciplinary Artist, Designer, Writer
April Soetarman is an interdisciplinary artist, designer, and writer based in New York who creates public art, immersive theater, installations, and games. Her narrative-driven projects aestheticize the mundane, giving everyday objects, places, and systems unexpected emotional significance. Her work has been sponsored by organizations such as the Seattle Art Museum, Seattle Office of Arts and Culture, CultureHub Re-Fest, Primary Stages, as well as anonymously installed in dozens of public spaces across the country. April has a BA in architecture and music from UC Berkeley, was an Experiential Design Founding Fellow at Experience Institute in Chicago, and has also taught at Pratt Institute and the School for Poetic Computation.
