Summertime at MFAVN | 2023 Edition

MFA Visual Narrative hosts our summer studio intensive in NYC every year where our students, who are otherwise remote during the fall and spring, get to learn and collaborate on campus. It’s always a joyous time of the year when our community comes together, new friendships are forged, and new stories, characters and their worlds are developed and crafted. This year, we welcomed back the Classes of ’23 and ’24 just as we welcomed the Class of ’25 for the very first time. From the start, it was clear we had a fun and enriching term ahead of us.

Here are just a few captured moments from the summer…

The incoming Class of ’25 showcased the creative writing and visual narrative skills they learned over the summer and crafted adaptations of Little Red Riding Hood for modern times.

The returning Class of ’24 explored the power of story, visual research, and developed and pitched their thesis projects, which included comics, illustrated novellas, hybrid graphic novels, and animated series.

The graduating Class of ’23 celebrated their achievements, honed their professional practice, and presented their work at a stellar thesis exhibition titled ‘We Made This!’

If you’re looking to advance your storytelling skills and searching for an inspired community interested in the same, applications are now open for Summer ’24. A calendar of our fall and winter events can be found here. Please join us!
