Basya Goldstein

Basya Goldstein

Illustrator & Animator

Basya Goldstein is first and foremost a student! She hails from Teaneck NJ and is a recent graduate of Stern College for Women where she majored in Studio Art and minored in English. Basya keeps a pencil on her the way a grandmother keeps a throat lozenge in her purse. She is obsessed with animation, and can talk about films and books for hours. She likes using any materials she can get her hands on, and especially loves to experiment with and learn new mediums and skills. Basya has been telling stories since she could talk, and loves connecting with others and/or making them laugh through her work. She can’t wait to take her abilities beyond the realm of observation and humor to create dynamic plots, characters, and stories. Basya’s interests include photography, running, sports, beat boxing, cooking, exploring, and Hebrew Bible study (didn’t see that one coming didja?).

  • burnt car

    Burnt collage piece

After seeing the explosions in the movie Jojo Rabbit, I wanted to explore different ways to portray fire in a drawing. I ended up creating a series of burnt objects, and paired each of them with a photographic background, giving it a surreal effect.

  • Player at bat

    Softball comic

Anyone who has ever played softball knows the mental gymnastics that come with playing the game. This comic highlights the inner workings of the mind of a player at bat.

    Cake comic

How do you break it to your ex that he is dead, especially if you are not one for confrontation? This is the second page in a comic that explores the messiness of a post breakup relationship, and the importance of working things out even if it takes an eternity – literally. Whatever you do don’t use red icing!

  • Jane Austen

    Jane Austen

Jane Austen is my favorite author of all time, and so I made this collage to represent all the ways she has inspired me.
