Andrea Tsurumi

Author, Illustrator, Cartoonist

Andrea Tsurumi is an author, illustrator and cartoonist originally from New York who now lives and draws in Philadelphia. Her children’s books include Accident! and Crab Cake and she’s illustrated numerous titles like Not Your Nest!, Girls Who Code, Sharko & Hippo, Mr. Watson’s Chickens, and the Kondo & Kezumi series. A cartoonist for adults and for kids, her comics, which include How to Pool, Why Would You Do That?, and A Week After the Wedding, appeared in The Believer, Locust Moon Press, Ink Brick, The Brooklyn Rail, TOON Books, Hic & Hoc Press and have been recognized by the Society of Illustrators. She received a BA in English from Harvard and an MFA from the School of Visual Arts (where she taught sequential storytelling for the summer residency). When she’s not inventing croissant-based animals, she likes reading about ordinary and ridiculous history.
