Three exhibitions curated by Leonard S. Marcus open this winter

Leonard S. Marcus is one of the world’s leading authorities on children’s books and the people who create them. He has been teaching at SVA since the 80s, and has been on faculty at MFA Visual Narrative since we opened our doors in 2013. Alongside Bill Kartalopoulos, Leonard teaches “History of Graphic Media” in the first summer intensive semester.

Professor is just one facet of his kaleidoscopic career – he’s also a writer, critic, historian, editor, and curator – and, ever-prolific, Leonard has curated not one but THREE museum exhibitions set to open this winter. Come back in January 2024 to learn more about the exhibitions and how picture books have guided the throughline of his expansive career, and to hear his perspective on how curatorial practice is a storytelling art in its own right.
