Gabi Berkers’ ‘Corvus’

Story: Visualized is the motto and mission statement of SVA’s groundbreaking MFA in Visual Narrative program, where the artist is author. From animation and video to comics and picture books, these digital short stories and their accompanying physical artwork are the culmination of the students’ work in visualizing stories that showcase their wide array of talents and distinct authorial voices.

Corvus by Gabi Berkers

Making any kind decision is one of the hardest things we do in our lives. But what if you never learned to make them yourself? This is very true for Aline, a young woman living in the Netherlands in 1875.

Aline’s parents have watched over her since birth. They want nothing more for her than to marry a good and wealthy young man to fit their standards. Aline has not given this much thought herself nor what she wants in life. This is, until she discovers a small egg in the local park one day.

The discovery of this egg is the beginning of a series of choices that Aline will have to make. Choices that each lead to different – and sometimes unexpected – outcomes.

How will your decisions affect Aline’s story? Help her find purpose in her life… or follow the path that is already laid out for her by her parents.
